A Real Triathlon Watch That Doesn’t Need Charging Mid-Race
The PACE 4 is COROS’s biggest update to the line yet, swapping the older memory-in-pixel screen for a genuinely bright 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen that’s easy to read at a glance mid-swim-bike-run. What makes it stand out for triathletes specifically is the dedicated multisport profile that automatically transitions between swim, bike, and run segments, plus support for cycling power meters — a feature the similarly priced Garmin Forerunner 165 doesn’t offer. Dual-frequency GPS locks on fast and holds accuracy even around buildings or dense tree cover, which matters when you’re navigating an unfamiliar race course.
Battery life is the standout number here: up to 41 hours in All-Systems GPS mode, or 31 hours in the more accurate dual-frequency Max mode — nearly double what most watches in this price range offer, and enough to cover a full Ironman with room to spare. At just 32 grams with the nylon band, it disappears on your wrist during long training blocks, and the new voice pin and microphone features let you log notes hands-free mid-workout. It’s missing full turn-by-turn mapping (you get breadcrumb navigation instead), which is the main tradeoff against Garmin’s pricier options, but for triathletes who care more about battery life, GPS accuracy, and multisport tracking than onboard maps, it’s hard to beat at this price.
